INFRARED REFLECTOGRAPHY

INFRARED REFLECTOGRAPHY | NIR DIGI | IRIS SYSTEM

INFRARED REFLECTOGRAPHY : Reflectography assumes the principle of a different pigment transparency at low lighting frequencies (infrared), allowing preparatory drawings, repentances and retouches to be revealed under the painting.
Infrared radiation reflects on the preparatory drawing, its optic contrast lines remaining inaltered on the surface beyond the visible spectrum in the infrared area.
As regards pigments, the light absorption value is based on wavelength. According to a survey, most pigment absorption curves reach 800nm. As pigments are transparent in the infrared area, recording systems used by IR reflectography are highly sensitive in the spectrum area where pigment absorption curves lie.
